註釋
ALS. Clark writes with a submission to the Literary souvenir, of which Watts is editor: "I ... 'cast my rhymes upon the waters' - perchance they may reach you, and be acceptable." Goes on, at length, to praise Watts's Poetical album, Watts himself, and "England and her sons of genius." He summarizes American appreciation of British poets: "Bishop Heber is worshipped, almost ... and the names of Byron, Moore, Shelley, Coleridge, Procter, Keats, Knowles, Watts and many others are familiar to all."
