註釋India is a unique country, proud for possessing a well-documented and well established system of medicine. The system known as Ayurvedic medicine is being practiced for centuries, which flourished from 2500 B.C. to 500 B.C. The Vedic texts, dating back to 3,000 B.C. deal extensively with the medicinal properties of plants. Two other systems of medicine, viz. Siddha (developed and established in South India) and Unani (introduced by Mughals) are also used in this country.
