註釋
"This text is intended to accompany the Kruzenshtern "Atlas de l'océan Pacifique" St. Petersburg, 1824..." Vol. 1 describes maps of the South Pacific, v. 2 of the North Pacific, and v. 3, "Supplemens du recueil," published 1835, supplements both, but due to its length, is rare in complete copy. Vol. 1 discusses in articles in the form of "Mémoire" maps of New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, and the Society Islands. The "Mémoire" on Hawaii is in vol. 2, p. 281-297. "In this, Kruzenshtern notes the maps of other explorers, refers to the supposed islands Los Monjes, La Mesa, and La Disgraciada appearing on old Spanish charts, and has general remarks on the Hawaiian Islands. He has descriptions of all the main islands and provides details of anchorages on Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau. The description of Honolulu is on pages 290-292. The text concludes with comments on the winds and currents as they affect the Islands." Vol. 2 also treats the Marianas, Carolines, Marshalls, and Gilbert Islands--Forbes, David W. Hawaiian national bibliography.
