註釋
"What is original about Sheila Hicks' approach to her work is her sustained contact with native craftsmen in local workshops where she employs their original tools, unchanged for centuries, and evolves the very old established stock of visual motives into her own visional language. With her eyes of an artist wide open, she has studied many cultures, not only for ethnographic interest but for a deep understanding of the world of textile expression. Acting with a sense of urgency, she attempts to decipher the basic order of archetypal social institutions. [...] The current exhibition at the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague is linked to another presentation of Sheila Hicks' creations in Czechoslovakia: that which took place in 1968, at the castle of Jindrichuv Hradec. Through the tenacious initiative of Dr. Dagmar Tucna and Dr. Milena Lamarova, thirty works were exhibited presenting the far-reaching development of ten years, of Sheila Hicks' art. Within this period, her work had elevated her to the position of one of the leading artists in textile arts"--Konstantina Hlaváčková, from text.
