This paper focuses on the role of broadcasting, sepcifically Radio Television malaysia (RTM), in the industrial development of Malaysia. It argues that RTM has played a significant role in articulating the government's vision to Malaysian society. The new technologies that make an interconnected world possible also offer new opportunities and challenges for societies. Malaysia's ability to take advantage of the new technologies place it in a position to shape not only a national agenda but also to contribute to global broadcasting systems that aim to improve the human condition.
