註釋This publication documents the gift in 2010 of more than one hundred works on paper from the collection of Dr. August and L. Tommie Freundlich. At least forty years in the making, the collection was formed by Dr. Freundlich, a retired educator and arts administrator, and his late wife Tommie. His career included teaching posts at University of Arkansas (Instructor, Art Department, 1950-1953), Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University; Chair and Professor, Department of Art, 1954-1958), Peabody College (now part of Vanderbilt University; Chairman and Professor, Arts Division, 1958-1964), University of Miami (Chairman and Professor, Department of Art, 1964-1970), and Syracuse University (Professor, School of Art, 1969). The inaugural exhibition, "A Singular Vision: Recent Gifts from the Freundlich Collection" (November 15, 2011 - June 3, 2012), offered the first opportunity to celebratethis important gift.
