註釋"In 1948 Fernando Birri embarked on a small ship as a cook. It was the Ana Zürcher, which came and went along the banks of the Paraná carrying any type of merchandise. He was then twenty-three years old and was the same curious boy that he remains today. With that hunger for the world that characterizes him, he observed the signs that nature and man left in the bends of the river, in the faces and actions of his fellow sailors. Throughout the months in which he lived aboard the ship, in an Avon Extra notebook, Birri wrote down all those impressions, loaded with traces of the pain and loves that life began to give him. One day, at kilometer 668, the ship sank. It was the end of one adventure but the beginning of others. Time passed and the diary that he carried on board was hidden and kept in himself. Today, as a result of the collaboration between the Rafael Botí Provincial Foundation of Plastic Arts of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Spain, the Foundation of New Latin American Cinema and the Casa de las Américas, the book sees the light of day for the first time. The drawings that recreate it were born in the spring of 2002, when Fernando Birri and the Cuban art critic and artist Antonio Eligio Fernández (Tonel) coincided as guest professors at the Center for Latin American Studies at Stanford University. They now accompany this first edition of Cuadernos de Bitácora. Self-portrait of the Other, a teenage artist with a boat in the background, in 1948."--
