註釋This collection contains the papers of Edward Henry Fairchild (1815-89). Born in Massachusetts, he graduated from Oberlin College and worked as a pastor and prominent abolitionist. From 1853 he served as a departmental head at Oberlin College and was appointed the first president of Berea College in 1869. The papers are a varied collection of addresses, sermons, correspondence, diary pages, newspaper cuttings, genealogical investigations, etc. The collection comprises series 1, 3, 5-6 of the Hutchins Library E.H. Fairchild papers.
