Jüdische Bürger im Amt Versmold
註釋Traces the history of the Jewish community of Versmold in Kreis Halle, Westphalia, with 65 Jews in 1858 and 30 in 1930. In 1899 it was rumored that the new synagogue could not be built without Christian blood and that a Jew was waiting in the cellar of the Jewish department store for a Christian to fall through a trap door to be killed. Although the authorities tried to stop the rumor, people became afraid to buy in Jewish shops and Jews were attacked on the street. Surveys antisemitic organizations and parties in Germany from the late 19th century to 1933, and the organizations that combated antisemitism, in which Versmold Jews may have participated. Nazi and SS groups were organized in 1930, and in September of that year the Nazi party received 40.3% of the votes. After 1933 there was vandalization of Jewish homes, the spread of antisemitic propaganda, and an enforced boycott of Jewish shops. Traces the fate of families and individuals.
