Process Audits Reveal Benefits of Automation in Wastewater Treatment
註釋When industrial and municipal wastewaters are biologically treated to render them less harmful to the environment, part of the process usually involves aeration or the provision of oxygen. Typically, aeration systems are manually controlled by plant operating staff. This manual control operation leads to excess energy costs by up to 50%, which could be reduced by automation. In 1983, the Tillsonburg, Ontario water pollution control plant was evaluated for a demonstration, using a microprocessor-based audit. This note describes the system used and the energy savings involved.
