註釋
Many students today lack direction and motivation in completing assignments in school. Teachers and employers in a rural, Midwestern community are concerned that students will not be successful in school and work if they do not increase motivation, develop self-regulation methods, and consider character traits. The purpose of this project is to increase student motivation, self-regulation, and character by incorporating these traits into the curriculum at all age levels. The first phase of this project will be a qualitative study conducted within six art classes taught by the same teacher. The goals are to increase motivation, use self-regulation strategies, and develop character traits through student-centered art activities and student documentation of self-regulation in sketchbooks. Successful strategies will then be discussed throughout the district on a continuing basis through Collaborative Learning Communities and summer classes for district teachers. Key Words: motivation, self-regulation, character traits.
