註釋The Quest for the Fathers series provides a comprehensive examination of the tenth chapter of Genesis. Each of the names of the descendants of Noah are approached individually, and a clear picture is developed concerning what people was intended by the original author. A reception history is then presented, as the various peoples and nations who sought to integrate themselves into the Noahic schemata are examined from ancient times down to the late nineteenth century. This first volume will introduce the Table of Nations, then present a thorough study of the Sons of Japheth found in Genesis 10:1-5. Volume II, scheduled for mid-2022, will present a comparable study of the Sons of Ham, focusing on their literary interpretation by the Hebrews, and their subsequent historical and socio-political impact. The third volume, scheduled for the fall of 2023, will address the Sons of Shem, and follow up with the related Tower of Babel narrative.
