The Relationship Between Gambling, Significant Life Events, Co-morbidity and Associated Cultural Factors
註釋This report examine how levels of gambling and gambling-related problems are affected by stressful life events or mental ill health, and whether people with gambling problems are affected more significantly than recreational gamblers are. The research study involved interviews with 20 recreational gamblers and 20 people in treatment for problem gambling. Stressful life events include bereavement, financial difficulties, work related concerns, changes in living conditions, ill health and injury, and separation and divorce. Personal coping strategies were also investigated. The study found that people with gambling problems were more likely to increase their gambling in response to personal stressors.
