註釋Elections are the main instrument through which a democratic polity expresses its choices. Decisions made in elections have political implications. However, the decisions themselves are the result of individual optimization by the voter and organizational optimization by political formations. Economics has developed sophisticated tools and methods for the analysis of optimization problems. Over the last few decades these tools have increasingly been applied to the study of elections and electoral behavior. In this survey, we attempt to integrate this body of literature.
