Mrs. Perrywinkle was lonely at home and decided she needed some pets. Gallagher the cat, Ginsburg the cat, and Sam the dog all needed homes. Mrs Perrywinkle soon discovered that what made her pets happy didn't make her happy at all. She couldn't make her bed because Sam liked to sleep there. She couldn't water her roses because Gallagher liked to curl up under the bushes. She couldn't even use her car because Ginsburg liked sitting in the driveway. Then her neighbor, Mrs. Poppy told her what had to be done, and when it was done, all four of them were much happier.
