註釋
In America, in one year alone, four million people go missing: a husband says he is just popping out to the shops and never comes back, a work colleague goes outside for a cigarette and does not return... Two journalists investigating a similar phenomenon in Spain are on their way to visit a man who used to be a police officer in the missing persons department, but who has spent the last fifteen years in an insane asylum. Both journalists feel an inexplicable sense of unease, which is only exacerbated by the precipitous twists and turns of the mountain road that leads to the asylum. The policeman, though possibly over-involved in his work, had always been thought of as hard-working and considerate, a devoted family man. Then one day, he tried to shoot both his wife and son. Since then, the only words he has spoken are: 'They're watching us.' The visit causes painful memories to resurface. And as the journalists will discover, too late, 'the others' are indeed all around us, watching.
