Autobiography tells of his early life as the child of an officer on frontier duty in the 1870's and 1880's, cadet life and hazing, 1894-1898, mustering of the 26th Infantry of volunteers and their tour of duty in the Philippine Islands, 1899-1901, establishment of a course of instruction for cavalry officers, changes in cavalry bits, experiences at the French cavalry school, Saumur, France, 1906-1907, and travels to European cavalry schools, cavalry instruction at West Point, 1908-1911, competition as a member of the U.S. equestrian team in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden, tenure as Commandant of Cadets, 1917-1918, discussing practical military instruction instituted by Henry and the need to bridle the cadets' desires to leave West Point in favor of the front; the Berlin Olympics in 1936 during which time Henry was shown the German rearmament efforts; organization of the Canadian-American Military Board; duty as a member of Joint Board of Defense, Canada-U.S. and duty as representative to Joint Mexican-U.S. Defense Commission; post war efforts at normalizing foreign relations.
