註釋The concultation situation for general practitioners differs from that of specialist physicians in hospitals. The spectrum of illness is wider, the symptom pattern is less structured and the doctor is often working away from colleagues and major information centres. Very few computer-based decision support systems have been designed for this special situation. In this book the management of genitourinary infections has been used as a model for decision support in general practice with three components: two way communication between physician and patient, analysis of the patients̀ medical situation and quality assurance of the care provided. The structure for information exchange between general practice and the referral hospital is included as part of the model.
