Her search leads her to uncover what conditions were like at historic state hospitals where once thousands of inmates where housed and takes her to contemporary Buffalo. The people she talks to along the way seem eager to tell their part of the story but not quite willing to tell all. What are they hiding? Can she find closure to this death of a small child? The novel is based on actual events.
