Resistance of House-wall Sheeting to Flying Debris
註釋The performance of cladding materials under impact was studied in order to assist in design decisions for houses built in areas subject to high winds, Panels were hit at successively higher velocities by one of four different missiles until they were penetrated or a maximum velocity of 16 m/s was reached. Permanent deformation and type of damage were recorded, and the minimum energy estimated that caused penetration. Heavier missiles caused more damage than lighter ones of the same impact energy. The behaviour of pairs of panels mounted on top of one another cannot be readily predicted from the separate behaviour of each. Fastenings play an important role.
