註釋A technique is presented for the evaluation of the effectiveness of fire safety measures in the design of buildings. This technique is called the Fire Spread Analysis. It calculates the probability of fire occuring in any compartment of a building or reaching it from any other compartment. From such figures, an economic performance level and a life safety performance level can be calculated: these are quantitative representations of the effectiveness of the building's fire safety measures. Design objectives are discussed, as are ways of obtaining necessary probability figures for the Fire Spread Analysis. A numerical example is given.
