A Least-Squares Weighted-Layer Technique for Prediction of Upper Wind Effects on Unguided Rockets
註釋In the study, the weighted-layer technique for prediction of upper wind effects on unguided missiles is examined in detail, with attention being focused on rationale and difficulties in application. A technique is developed to determine weighting factors by use of a ballistic simulator, and a least-squares procedure which chooses those weights which minimize deflections from no wind impact. The bahavior of the weights so calculated is discussed, particularly with regard to possible ill conditioning of the linear system produced by the least-squares technique. Finally, actual data examined, weights are calculated, and their behavior analyzed in terms of the previously developed theory. (Author).
