The Beloved Child
註釋"The circumstance surrounding the birth of Obinna makes him the beloved child of his father, Amadi. 'A man is known by the number of male children he has,' Amadi would say as he expects his son to join him in the family profession of farming. But Obinna's love for education and his passion for missionary work drives him into seeking admission into the Pastoral College at Okpuru. He believes he is destined to become a pastor and that if he attends one of the regular secondary schools in his village, Umuaka, he would miss his mark. This however contravenes Amadi's plans which are tied to cultural beliefs as against modern values which Obinna upholds.--Prof. A. Akporobaro."--
