Silvicultural Systems for the Production of Energy Biomass in Conventional Operations in Atlantic Canada
註釋Presents an analysis of silvicultural systems designed to produce energy biomass from conventional forestry operations in Atlantic Canada. Three case studies are used to evaluate a range of systems that could be used in a variety of stand types. They include a clear-cut system in a balsam fir stand type in Newfoundland, a shelterwood system in red spruce in Nova Scotia, and a partial cutting system in shade-tolerant hardwoods in New Brunswick. Evaluation criteria include delivered cost, biomass yields per hectare, and silvicultural and environmental implications. Also includes analysis of policy changes and incentives that might make biomass energy more attractive in Atlantic Canada.
