註釋The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will soon have been in effect for five years. This agreement involved much more than simple trade barrier reduction, it broke new ground in such areas as investment regulation and intellectual property protection, and, for the first time, labor and environmental issues were linked to international trade policy. Furthermore, NAFTA brought together, in an economic integration scheme, countries with widely disparate levels of economic development.
