註釋
The Ross site is a multicomponent, buried campsite located within a low terrace on the south side of the Oldman River, about 15 km northeast of Coaldale in southern Alberta. Cultural material is revealed intermittently along 205 m of the cutbank and indicates that as many as 6 occupations are present, all of which are assigned to the Old Women's Phase of the Late Prehistoric Period. Erosion of the site terrace edge has been extensive. In order to determine if sufficient cultural deposits remained intact to warrant site designation as a provincial historical resource, a test excavation program was undertaken in 1980. This report presents the results of that investigation.
