This study looks at the composition of the GSLIS Historical Children's Collection in comparison to the Children's Historical Collection at the London Public Library in order to determine: a) how closely this collection matches the others in order to establish the ground work for developing a pre-World War One collection; b) establish some basis for recommendations regarding the present composition of the collection in regards to achieving the objectives set out in a); c) provide a basis for a historical record of what this collection should consist of for further faculty, student and community study. This comparison will be carried out using the Toronto Boys' and Girls' House catalogue, the 1927 Books for Boys and Girls.
