註釋Results of a study to establish a data base of pesticide use that could be updated periodically and used to identify trends; and to establish major uses of specific pesticides to help identify those that should be reduced through legislation or the promotion of integrated pest management methods. The study included commercial and agricultural pesticides, domestic pesticides, anti-sapstain chemicals, wood preservatives, and slimicides (used in paper making and cooling towers). It excluded all exempted pesticides except flea control products sold by veterinarians. Survey methods included obtaining use or sales summary data submitted by pesticide vendors and pest control service licensees as part of the annual licence renewal requirements. Vendors of domestic label pesticides, anti-sapstain chemicals, and slimicides who are not required to file annual sales summaries were contacted directly and asked to provide sales data. Wood preservative plants were surveyed and provided use data. Where possible, the study included an evaluation of data quality. Daily sales or use records were obtained from 53 vendors or pest control services and the quantities of pesticides reported in the daily records were compared with quantities reported on the annual summary forms.
