Paris Trip Report
註釋From the back cover: Having already published several books-both collections of essays and photography-about France, where I had spent the better part of twenty years, I never intended to write yet another book when I flew to Paris in April 2017. I just led my usual life, visiting friends, going to the cinema and museums, enjoying all the food and drink I missed in America, wandering around and rediscovering the infinitely interesting neighborhoods of Paris and taking care of personal business. But since I am a writer, I wrote every day and, being a photographer, I could never resist capturing an ephemeral image "à la sauvette"-on the fly. I returned to Paris in October and wrote some more essays and shot some more photographs. This book consists of two parts. The first, "Art, Politics, Ale and Motorcycles," consist of essays written during April and May 2017. Part Two, "A Week in Paris," details some of the activities and events I experienced during October of the same year. The subjects of these sixteen essays include painters-Pissarro, Vermeer and an American impressionist named Henry Rodman Kenyon-movies, the presidential election and an eclectic collection of ales, olives, wines, cheese, restaurants and motorcycles, as well as my usual unexpected encounters with total strangers. Paris Trip Report is written in easy-to-read 16-point type and illustrated with 22 color photographs.
