註釋
Francis Jackson writes to William Lloyd Garrison appraising him of his physical condition, stating that his health is such that his physician has advised him to "put aside all business", a counsel which he is violating in order to write Garrison. Jackson informs Garrison that his having come "so near" to Garrison's "teaching & instruction" has been "one of the most fortunate circumstances" of his life.
