註釋
This is the story of the lacemakers from Calais and Saint-Pierre, born in the Midlands of England, trapped between the poorhouses of Nottingham and the French Revolution of 1848. They appealed to the British Government to allow them to emigrate to the colonies of Australia. 700 reached Australia in the last months of 1848, mostly onboard the 'Harpley', the 'Agincourt' and the 'Fairlie' and settled in Adelaide, Bathurst and Maitland.
