註釋For a long time websites did not need to show return on investment. Their objective was either growth or it was seen as a business obligation to have one. At the latest with the burst of the dot-com bubble the management approach to websites changed. Website managers now ask for precise tools in order to track and define website success and failure. But as most of the websites do not generate direct cash flows it seems to be a complex task to show that the website contributes to overall market success. Website administration needs to know about correlation, interfaces and coherences. Therefore the author will follow a holistic approach in this thesis and place website performance control into the surroundings of the overall business world. He would like to contribute a paper for discussion that combines theoretical analysis with practical application. The author is therefore going to develop a website model which lays open the different parts of a website and places them into the context of its environment. The model is going to show critical points, issues and interfaces that need to be supervised and tracked in order to guarantee a positive website performance. Using the model he will derive a key figure framework for clustering basic success measures. In the last step he is going to define performance indicators for practical use in each of the framework's categories. These KPIs will allow website management to define the performance of its website and benchmark against other websites. It is the author's aim to guide the reader through the single action steps he will be taking in developing the website model, establishing the key figure system and providing the individual performance indicators. The author will conclude with establishing a key figure system that provides a tool for routine checks of website performance control.
