註釋
A case study is presented on the design and implementation of a microcomputer system that is used to control a 48 MVA submerged-arc ferrochromium furnace. The electrical circuit of the furnace and the principles on which the control is based are discussed. The proposed control algorithm is explained, and the use of a minicomputer to verify this algorithm is outlined. The development of a prototype unit based upon microprocessor technology is discussed, the choice of a microcomputer being explained, the configuration of the hardware highlighted, and the tools and techniques for development of the software presented, especially those concerning the use of a minimal operating system. The behaviour in practice of the prototype of the electrode controller is covered briefly and future trends regarding the use of microcomputers in similar applications are discussed.
