大家還玩心大起,讓故事的角色與蔬菜互相亂入串場;

【Series Introduction】
A series of picture books on food education designed especially for children, featuring vegetables and fruits.
A dozen illustrators from Taiwan with diversified styles, create fun stories that can make children fall in love with delicious and healthy fruits and vegetables while reading the picture books.
"No! That's too good!" Series to undo children's stereotype of "hating" vegetables.
Among the vegetables children don't like, we selected a dozen or so most commonly disliked vegetables including yam, carrot, onion, eggplant, green pea, green pepper, and bitter gourd, and using "No! That's too good!" as the key phrase in the stories, we ask illustrators to work their imaginations and create various interesting stories.
Without preaching to children how nutritious the vegetables are, and how healthy the vegetables will make them if they eat the vegetables, we guide children through stories and pictures to form a positive and good bond with vegetables and increase their interest in eating vegetables.

From the Editor
Make the vegetables delicious with imagination!
When it comes to vegetables, the first thing that comes to mind for many parents is probably how picky their children can be. Compared to other food, vegetables are more likely to be undesired at the table, usual winners include leafy greens and those that are particular in taste and texture such as green pepper, bitter gourd, and eggplant.
In fact, the first challenge that we envisioned when planning this series of picture books on vegetables and fruits was how to undo the stereotype of children thinking that vegetables are "not delicious"? To promote vegetarian cuisine to children, they need to at least be willing to eat vegetables and like vegetables!
After some rather heated debates (among similarly picky adults), we came up with a dozen or so vegetables that most people hate, and hence the first theme of this vegetable and fruit collection "No! This is too good!"
However, we do not want to preach to children how nutritious vegetables are and how much good vegetables will do to their bodies if they ate vegetables. We want to convey this idea in the most simple and straightforward way, which is through fun and innovative stories and pictures, and when they are exposed to vegetables, they will have a positive and beautiful connection. When they eat vegetables, they will remember the picture books they once read, and the vegetables that they didn't like will become fun and delicious all at once!
Starting with this idea, we sent out invites to many talented illustrators with a list of vegetables they can choose from, our only request is to include the phrase "No! This is too good!" Little did we anticipate such amazing turnouts. The first five stories published this time each have a different narrative, beautifully demonstrating the personal styles of the artists. During the process, we even came up with the idea to place characters and vegetables from other stores in different works, when reading the picture books with your children, you might also fancy a small easter egg hunt!
I sincerely hope that this diversified and entertaining collection will make children love the delicious and healthy vegetables and fruits when they read the stories in the picture books.
From the Author
To be honest, I never had much interest in green peas, and my children don't like them either.
As a side dish, the green pea is not particularly tasty and sometimes people pick at it, so what's there to like? But when I was trying to come up with a story, I realized that the green little thing is a universe all on its own! Not only are there many varieties (garden pea, French bean, edamame, snow pea...... So confusing!) and can be cooked in many ways, it is also a nutritious super food! The humble green pea possesses a kind of magic that is delicious and healthy, hence the concept "Green Pea Magician".
While working on this book, the pandemic hit, and my older daughter entered elementary school while my younger daughter entered preschool, life was rather challenging dealing with all sorts of adjustments and tests. However, the green pea book brought our family loads of fun: brainstorming funny plots together, drawing various green-colored creatures, experimenting with various creative (weird) green pea recipes, and we also tried planting green peas on our balcony as well as knitting a whole family of green peas with yarn. I would like to thank my family TC, Mimi, and Xiao-Man, for yet again finishing a project as a family, and for creating memories that can never be replaced.
This is also by far the largest group of "characters" I have drawn in one single book! The groups of green peas plus the family of the audience make quite a large number, and the same character may have different postures and expressions in different scenarios. One of the favorite games of my two daughters is looking for their favorite pea on every page, sometimes they ask me, their mother, to prepare green peas for them so they may shape the green peas in different shapes as the story unfolds. Of course, just like the main character in the book, they finish by eating up all the green peas!
What else can green peas become? What other ways are there to play with them? What other details are tucked away in the book? I hope you all have fun reading this book, and fall in love with this joyful and energetic bunch just like our family did!
Finally, I would like to thank my editor Yi-Nien for developing this beautiful project, and for your trust and support in me. I would also like to thank the translator and art editor of this book, your suggestions and assistance have made this book even better. It's a tough journey bringing a book from scratch to publishing, but together, we accomplished it.
