Learner - Centred Practice: Meeting the Goals and Motivation of Learners on Skills for Life Programmes
註釋The following report is one of 17 projects carried out as part of the Practitioner - Led Research Initiative (PLRI), funded by the NRDC and the ESF between 2004 and 2006 and coordinated by a team at Lancaster University. This project investigated the role of particular teaching techniques and practices in meeting learners' aspirations and building their motivation. Earlier research supports the Skills for Life Strategy's emphasis on learner motivation and confidence-building as key ingredients for success. However, there is little evidence available to suggest what is likely to achieve this aim, particularly in terms of teaching strategies. This project was designed to begin to fill this evidence gap by finding out what motivates learners to persist and succeed on a range of different Skills for Life programmes, and to develop and evaluate some teaching strategies which address learner needs.
