Writings and genealogical materials (ca. 1940-1960) consist of notes and other material compiled by art historian Anna Wells Rutledge (a Middleton descendant) concerning the Hering, Inglis, Middleton, and related families, as well as notes on Middleton Place. Included are clippings, related correspondence, a copy of the will (1801) of Mary Inglis Hering, a pamphlet and other printed material about Essex (England), black and white photographs of portraits of Hering, Inglis, and Middleton family members, and color photos of family estates in Great Britain.
