Gilberto Ramírez Arellano, 1942-2006
註釋Homage devoted to artist Gilberto Ramirez Arellano (b. México 1942-2006) a social activist who left behind a diverse and valuable cultural heritage: murals, large format oil canvas and drawings. Ramirez Arellano's skillfully combined the symbols of Christianity, the colorful purpecha folklore and Pre-Columbian and historic elements to create a prolific art production that extended more than 50 years. His most important works include murals like: "Reencuentro" (his last mural and full of Marxist symbolism) painted in 2006 for the Institute of Economic Research in Morelia; "450 Años de la Fundación del Colegio de San Nicolás" for the University of Michoacán (1990); the "Chicano Triptic" in the State College of San Diego (1977) amongst others. Includes those murals created for restaurants and associations that have either closed or moved and where the conditions or location of the murals is no longer available.
