註釋
The distorting effect of the earth's crust on the spectrum of seismic signals which are transmitted from the source through the mantle to the receiving station is discussed. In an attempt to correct for the influence of the 'receiver-crust' a crustal model for the region of the Grafenberg Observatory (GGGR) near Nurnberg, Germany, has been derived. Its main features are a positive velocity gradient at the top of the crystalline basement, a low-velocity channel at a depth of about 10 km, and the possible existence of a high-velocity layer just above the MOHOROVICIC discontinuity. The presence of this layer could be detected from the spectra of body waves. (Author).
