Elementary excitations, such as quasiparticle and collective excitations, can reveal essential information of the associated zero temperature phase of quantum matter. In this thesis, I present our understanding on the topological classification of midgap bosonic quasiparticle excitations in free-boson systems, and on the quench dynamics of midgap Higgs collective excitations in spinfull p-wave fermionic condensations. Unlike the "tenfold way" topological classification of free fermions, the topological classification of free bosons is the "threefold way", and unlike oscillations with power-law decay of the Higgs boson at the edge of 2∆ gap of s-wave superconductors, midgap Higgs bosons in spinfull p-wave fermionic superfluids or superconductors display non-decaying periodic oscillations in time.
