The Carer's Role in Recovery
註釋In 2020, at the height of the Covid epidemic in the UK, Karin Cox suffered a permanently disabling cerebral artery ischaemic stroke while she and her husband John were on holiday. She has been wheelchair- or bed-bound and dependent on full-time care ever since. Out of this experience has come this account of the authors’ experiences of working with domestic carers and of the findings of their wider research into the world of care and the way carers are organised, managed and trained. The book will contribute to the current debate about the future of social care and the need for statutory career structures for carers. Above all they aim to highlight their belief that person-centred approaches, and the healing power of a successful carer/client relationship, are fundamental to recovery and to cost-effectiveness.
