註釋
Assertive Outreach: A Strengths Approach to Policy and Practice develops the first UK comprehensive, evidence-based account of assertive outreach from a strengths approach. This approach emphasises developing a collaborative, trusting working relationship between service users and practitioners, which prioritises a focus on the achievement of the service user's own aspirations, and building upon their own strengths and resources. The book is sub-divided into two sections, to cover issues of policy and practice. The first section sets out an historical perspective and the research evidence for case management and assertive outreach models of practice, nationally and internationally; within a precis of the UK policy context of the last twenty years. The strengths approach emerges within a set of positively framed principles, which clearly guide practitioner values and attitudes towards their own practice. Practice issues are explored from a starting point of the ethical dilemmas presented within the context of policy demands and service user self-determination. The practice section follows a logical sequence from an initial basis of effective team-working, through engagement, strengths assessment and care planning, to ways of working with service users. The area of risk is specifically analysed from a positive risk-taking perspective in practice. Finally, the developmental needs of staff and teams are examined from a strengths perspective.
