Marius de Zayas
註釋Major retrospective dedicated to avant-garde caricaturist, art critic, film maker and art promoter Marius de Zayas (b. Mxico 1880 - d. USA 1961), ignored in Mxico and whose important cultural role and artwork has scarcely been studied. The exhibition comprises his origin and evolution as an artist and art promoter in New York, the place where his family established after their exile from the Mexican regime of Porfirio Diaz. De Zayas who who created most of his art work outside Mexico, started his artistic trajectory as a cartoonist and book illustrator; he later became an assistant to photographer Alfred Stieglitz and was a member of the Dada modernism art movement. He was also a friend of Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, introducing to the New York market their artwork along with those of masters Paul Czanne, Vincent Van Gogh, André Derain and Paul Strand amongst others.
