The following general themes are discussed: improvement of public knowledge, education, and awareness about the justice system; simplifying the justice system; increasing sensitivity and cultural awareness; enhancing community partnerships; increasing the role of victims and offenders; clarifying accountability; taking action on previous studies and reports on justice; and increasing funding. Recommendations are listed in such areas as addressing barriers to accessing justice, victims' rights, youth and the justice system, policing, First Nations justice programs, crime prevention, alternatives to the existing system, and public confidence.
