The log book of Lt. Richard A. Thompson while he was a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft III in Sagan, Germany, 1944-1945. It includes hand-colored illustrations of World War II fighters and bombers, insignia, views of Stalag Luft III, and caricatures of people and personalities of the time and at Stalag Luft III. It includes a diary, poems, a mail received log, and lists of P.O.W. recipes, Air Force slang words, Red Cross box contents, and military related subjects. The unnumbered plates contain newspaper clippings, samples of movie theater tickets for movies shown at the P.O.W. camp, monthly calendars, and various cigarette labels.
