註釋A method for the low temperature oxidation of microscopicstructures within coal surfaces has been developed using isotopicoxygen (18-O2) as a tracer, and Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry(SIMS) as a surface analysis technique. The uptake of oxygen incoal has been studied as a function of maceral type, coal rank, oxidation time and temperature.
