The Great American Guide to Diet and Health
註釋Abstract: A 2-part guide was designed to help consumers understand their diet and health requirements. Part 1 explains diet and nutrition needs and focuses on weight control, food (nutritive) values, food labels, and food additives, vitamins and health foods, and eating better (US Dietary Guidelines and salt). Specific food items and topics are discussed, including: a consumer's guide to meat and meat substitutes (soybeans included); seafood; cheese; cereals and pasta; vegetables; and keeping foods safe. Part 2 covers health and physical fitness by focusing on protecting one's lifeline (i.e., preventing high blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks and other health hazards). Some common ailments also are discussed: colds, cold sores, fever blisters, headaches, insomnia, diabetes, athritis, hemorrhoids, acne, cellulite, and varicose veins.
