In a six-page, hand-written memo dated April 30, 1877, Sir Lintorn Simmons revises estimates he made earlier in the month on Russian military strength and movements in the Caucasus. Based on information from the British Consul in Tiflis (modern Tbilisi, Georgia), he lays out new figures on types of Russian forces in various locations, and finds them considerably delays and at lower strength than first thought.
