Data from experiments on a 250 mm pipeline with both sand and coal-slurries were used to develop a fundamental model of slurry-flows in horizontal pipelines. The mechanistic, two-layermodelling approach was vindicated, while parametric details insome functions were rewritten. The practical relevance of theseresults is discussed. This report examines the reasons forrecommending completion of the entire originally scheduledCanadian test program. It also examines details of a simplifiedprogram for the German group.
