Literary Objects
註釋Literary Objects: Flaubert explores the concept of the commodity as seen through the writings of Gustav Flaubert. A selection of furniture, paintings, prints, sculpture, and other objets d'art together with selected passages from Flaubert's writings refer to the overlapping worlds of the French middle class: the domestic interior, the political arena, the imagined Orient, and the historical past. The book seeks to both evoke and illuminate Flaubert's literary concerns in new and powerful visual terms, while providing a new context for 19th-century French artworks.
