Henry Edwards of Newfoundland, probably written after October, 1710, to Samuel Vetch, who after that date was governor of Nova Scotia and military commander of British troops in the region. Edwards writes that he had aided Capt. Pickering in his reconnaissance of St. Johns and Placentia in Newfoundland, and had returned with him, probably to Nova Scotia, to request a commission and a sloop in order to raise men to attack French-held Placentia. Edwards also requests "consideration" for his time assisting Capt. Pickering
